Most how to cook steak videos show these nice thick steaks and have complicated recipes. This is simple weeknight cooking of a steak on the stove in few minutes. A few key things here, salt the meat, cool the meat, use a hot cast iron pan, and don’t cook it too long. I like to cook steak medium or medium rare, and this method works well for that.

Most steaks you buy at the food store are not those super thick ones, I wanted to show people how to cook a steak that costs less than with a simple pan sauce.

  1. i did all the listed except baking soda instead of powder, but the result is cake not brownies, whats our problem?

  2. From putting salt on the steak, and then to the fridge. I'm assuming it took about an hr or so for the steak to be done?

  3. I know this video is old but I have a question, he added butter after the first flip, is it necessary to wait that long before adding butter? If I added butter chunks at the same time as I first put the steak on is it going to affect it in a negative way? Also a bonus question, is there such thing as too much oil?
